Abstract: The discussion of non-sequential random inspections begun in Part 1 is extended here to includethe possibility of false alarms. A randomization of inspection activities is assumed inwhich in general only a subset of the paths are inspected. The problem of calculating aguaranteed detection probability for diversion along an arbitrary path is considered. Usefulanalytical solutions are again obtained for various assumptions regarding inspection resourceconstraints and false alarm probabilities.
